Synopsis

In the sunny Emerald Bay, Florida, Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) is a local hero who takes his job as a lifeguard very seriously. His world is disrupted when the team is forced to recruit Matt Brody (Zac Efron), a disgraced former Olympic swimmer with a massive ego. While the two clash over what it means to be a "lifeguard," a new threat arrives on the shore in the form of Victoria Leeds (Priyanka Chopra), the ruthless owner of the Huntley Club. When bags of "flakka" (a dangerous synthetic drug) start washing up on the beach and local councilmen begin turning up dead under mysterious circumstances, Mitch and his elite squad decide to go deep undercover.
