Synopsis

Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), a talented young Black photographer, is understandably nervous as he prepares to spend a weekend at the secluded estate of his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage (Allison Williams), to meet her parents for the first time. Rose reassures him that her family is incredibly progressive, famously claiming her father "would have voted for Obama a third time." At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as awkward attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship. However, as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries—from the robotic behavior of the Black groundskeepers to the chilling hypnotherapy sessions with Rose’s mother, Missy (Catherine Keener)—lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.
