Synopsis

In a cramped, old neighborhood in Bhopal, four women navigate their lives under the shadow of patriarchy. Shireen (Konkona Sen Sharma) is a secret door-to-door saleswoman who hides her professional success from her sexually dominating husband. Rehana (Plabita Borthakur) is a college student who sews burkhas by day but rebels by night, dreaming of being a singer like Miley Cyrus. Leela (Aahana Kumra) is a beautician trying to escape her small town with her lover while being forced into an arranged marriage. Finally, there is the 55-year-old Usha "Buaji" (Ratna Pathak Shah), the matriarch of the house who rediscovers her sexuality through a steamy pulp fiction novel titled Lipstick Dreams. As their individual stories of small rebellions and secret fantasies unfold, they are narrated through the voice of "Rosie," the fictional character in Usha’s book. When their secrets are eventually exposed, they must face the explosive consequences together. It’s a story of courage, lipstick, and the search for freedom.
