Synopsis

The Rip (2026) reunites Academy Award winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in a gritty, high-stakes crime thriller set in the underbelly of Miami. Based on a true story, the film follows a specialized narcotics unit of the Miami-Dade Police Department known as the Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT). The team, led by Lieutenant Dane Dumars (Matt Damon) and Sergeant J.D. Byrne (Ben Affleck), is reeling from the murder of their captain. While following a "crimestopper tip," the squad stumbles upon a derelict stash house containing a staggering $20 million in drug cartel cash hidden in an attic. In a moment of panic and greed, Dumars decides to deviate from protocol, confiscating his team's phones and refusing to report the find to headquarters. As the night unfolds, the neighborhood is surrounded by cartel hitmen, and the cops realize they are trapped. Suspicion and paranoia rip through the team—is there a mole among them?
