📖 Synopsis

Maareesan (2025) is a masterfully crafted road-trip thriller that brings together two of Indian cinema's finest performers: the versatile Fahadh Faasil and the legendary comedian Vadivelu. The story follows Dhaya (Fahadh Faasil), a clever small-time thief who breaks into a house in Nagercoil, only to find an elderly man, Velayudham Pillai (Vadivelu), chained to a bed. Velayudham explains he suffers from Alzheimer’s and was locked up by his son for his own safety. Seeing an opportunity to fleece the old man’s bank account, Dhaya "rescues" him and agrees to take him on a cross-country journey to Tiruvannamalai. What begins as a simple con job quickly spirals into a dark, unpredictable game of cat-and-mouse. As they travel, every destination Velayudham mentions reveals a shocking secret, and Dhaya begins to wonder if his "target" is really as helpless as he seems.
